The most wonderful time of the year is officially here! Get ready for a full weekend of festive fun as the heart of Ottawa lights up.

Join us and thousands of your neighbours for two days of community, cheer, and giving back during The Weekend of Light and Giving. The annual celebration that has become a cherished Ottawa tradition, bringing light and joy to all, especially those who need it the most.

Friday: The Annual Christmas Tree Lighting 

Date: Friday, November 21st, 2025

Event: Head down to Lansdowne Park to witness the official Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, which marks the spectacular start of the holiday season and the opening of the Ottawa Christmas Market!

Time: Check local listings for the exact time, but typically happens in the early evening (5:00 PM – 7:00 PM).

Saturday: The 56th Annual Help Santa Toy Parade

Date: Saturday, November 22nd, 2025

Time: 11:00 AM (Arrive early to grab a good spot!)

Route: The parade is starting its new route on Queen Elizabeth Driveway at Somerset St W and heading Southbound to Lansdowne Park / TD Place.

The highlight of the parade is the "Help Santa" Campaign. Look out for Ottawa firefighters walking the route collecting new, unwrapped toys and donations for Toy Mountain. This is your perfect chance to embrace the spirit of the season and help ensure every child in Ottawa wakes up to a gift on Christmas morning.
